This thesis is grounded in the Municipality of Vejle’s fictitious tender for Keller’s Park Abode and a subsequent conceptual design proposal. It examines how an architectural understanding of materials and space can be aligned with institutional practices of health, prevention, safety, and environment in the early design phase—especially in material selection and the formulation of objective requirement specifications. Through engagement with the tender and the conceptual scheme, the work addresses how sustainability and user considerations can be integrated into decisions without compromising operational and regulatory demands. The thesis discusses principles and criteria to support more sensory and resilient institutional environments that still meet hygiene and compliance requirements.
