How we use AI
When students submit a project, we encourage them to provide an abstract or summary at the same time. As these contributions vary in quality and length, we use AI to edit the texts so that they are more consistent and accessible on projekter.aau.dk.
Our process ensures:
- Accessibility: The content is communicated to a broad audience while preserving the original academic focus.
- Language: All projects are presented with summaries in both Danish and English.
- Complete data: Fewer than half of all submissions include a summary. If a summary is missing, AI automatically extracts the key elements (problem area, methods and results) from the assignment text itself and uses these to write a summary.
- Indexing: The presence of a summary is an important factor in making the content accessible via search engines such as Google.
The original summary submitted by the student is always available in the "Documents" section of the individual student project description when you click on "View record in AAU Student Project". Although we use AI to optimise presentation, the technology can make mistakes or misunderstand context.
Currently, only publicly available student projects are processed using AI.
