Abstract
Specialet tager udgangspunkt i Edvantage Groups opgave med at udvikle e-læring til nye 7-Eleven-medarbejdere og undersøger, hvordan oplæringen kan gøres mere motiverende. Mange ser jobbet som midlertidigt og mangler motivation. Traditionel e-læring er isoleret og primært teoretisk, samtidig med at butikschefer stadig bruger tid på at undervise, og medarbejdere har behov for bedre kommunikation. Projektet undersøger derfor arbejdspladsen som et læringsrum, hvor meningsfuld læring opstår, når teori og praksis kobles. For at understøtte denne reflekterende læring skal e-læring forbindes med det, der sker i butikken. Den foreslåede service gør arbejdspladsen til en del af læringssystemet. Via en PDA (personlig digital assistent) modtager medarbejderne to typer information. Funktionsorienteret information dækker produkter og fysiske opgaver i butikken, identificeret gennem observation af, hvor og hvordan viden bruges. Praktisk information omfatter læring om 7-Eleven som organisation og adgang til et 7-Eleven-fællesskab, der muliggør kommunikation mellem hovedkontor, butikschefer og medarbejdere. Kendte sociale fællesskaber blev studeret for at designe et genkendeligt community og udforme brugsbetingelser, der forebygger misbrug. Tilsammen giver elementerne flere muligheder for at lære i eget tempo om forskellige aspekter af arbejdet i 7-Eleven. This thesis addresses Edvantage Group's task of creating e-learning for new 7-Eleven employees and asks how to make that training more engaging. Many recruits view the job as temporary and lack motivation. Traditional e-learning is a solitary, mainly theoretical activity, while store managers still spend time teaching, and staff need ways to communicate with each other. The project therefore investigates the workplace itself as a learning space, where meaningful learning happens when theory and practice are combined. To support this reflective learning, e-learning must be connected to what happens in the store. The proposed service turns the workplace into part of the learning system. Using a PDA (personal digital assistant), employees receive two kinds of information. Functional information covers products and physical tasks in the store, identified through observation of how and where such knowledge is needed. Practical information includes learning about 7-Eleven as an organization and access to a 7-Eleven community that enables communication among headquarters, store managers, and employees. Existing social platforms were studied to design a familiar community and to define terms of use to prevent misuse. Together, these elements offer multiple ways to learn, at one’s own pace, about different aspects of working in 7-Eleven. The workplace supplies direct information about products, while broader knowledge about identity and routines is delivered indirectly via content uploaded to the PDA by people involved in the store. By using familiar tools and offering choice, the service is intended to increase involvement and help employees build personal and professional skills they can use later in life.
