Abstract
Danmark er det eneste EU-land med et forsvarsforbehold, men alligevel ses europæisering i dele af dansk forsvarspolitik. Projektet undersøger, hvorfor europæisering optræder i forsvarsforligene – politiske outcomes i et område formelt afkoblet fra EU’s forsvarssamarbejde. Med en kvalitativ case-tilgang og en to-niveaus analyse (politisk og taktisk) anvendes proces-tracing, et semi-struktureret interview med en dansk oberst og Eastons systemanalyse til at identificere mekanismer og forløb på tværs af forligene 1995–2017. Teoretisk bygger projektet på neoklassisk realisme og en begrebsramme for europæisering. Analysen viser, at europæisering er til stede på det politiske niveau: ændringer i danske forsvarsforlig følger tæt efter tilsvarende udviklinger på EU-niveau, og fire mellemliggende mekanismer peges på som årsag. This thesis asks why Europeanization occurs in the Defence Agreements—political outcomes in a policy area formally delinked from EU defence cooperation.
