Abstract

Projektet udvikler et trådløst sensornetværk, der sender OSC (Open Sound Control) beskeder direkte ind i kreative værktøjer som Processing, Grasshopper, openFrameworks, Max/MSP, LuaAV og Quartz Composer. Ved at føre data fra fysiske omgivelser ind i disse applikationer kan designere tilpasse og afprøve deres arbejde i den kontekst, hvor det skal anvendes, og få en bedre forståelse af det miljø, de designer til. Systemet, kaldet Creative Sensor Network, blev vurderet som let at integrere på tværs af de nævnte værktøjer og vakte interesse blandt designuddannede. Det blev også med succes brugt i et forskningsprojekt om responsiv arkitektur.

This project develops a wireless sensor network that sends OSC (Open Sound Control) messages directly into creative tools such as Processing, Grasshopper, openFrameworks, Max/MSP, LuaAV, and Quartz Composer. By bringing data from physical environments into these applications, designers can tailor and test their work in the context where it will be used and gain a clearer understanding of the settings they design for. The system, called the Creative Sensor Network, was evaluated as easy to integrate across the listed tools and attracted interest from people with design backgrounds. It was also successfully applied in a research project on responsive architecture.
