Denne kandidatafhandling undersøger og demonstrerer, hvordan servicedesign—metoder og værktøjer til at planlægge og forbedre hele oplevelsen omkring en service eller et arrangement—kan bruges i eventorganisationer. Udgangspunktet er samarbejdspartneren Carnival in Aalborg og et konkret problem: hvordan man øger deltagernes støtte til arrangementet. Gennem analyser af brugere og organisationen formuleres problemet og omsættes til en løsning. Problemformuleringen er: Hvordan kan Carnival in Aalborg forbedres med servicedesign med det mål at øge værdien af at støtte karnevallet og dermed give deltagerne et incitament til at støtte? Den foreslåede løsning er et samskabende system, der gør det muligt for centrale aktører—som arrangører, samarbejdspartnere, frivillige og deltagere—at skabe værdi for deltagerne i fællesskab. Projektet fokuserer især på de forskellige interessenter samt på karnevallets primære målgruppe: unge i Aalborg. Afhandlingen er delt i to rapporter: en præsentation, der beskriver den endelige løsning til organisationen bag Carnival in Aalborg, og en procesrapport, der viser, hvordan og hvorfor løsningen blev udviklet.

This master’s thesis investigates and demonstrates how service design—methods and tools for planning and improving the overall experience of a service or event—can be applied in event organizations. The case is the collaboration partner Carnival in Aalborg and a specific challenge: how to increase participants’ support for the event. Based on insights from users and the organization, the project analyzes the problem and develops a possible solution. The thesis asks: How can Carnival in Aalborg be improved through service design in order to increase the value of supporting the carnival and, in turn, give participants an incentive to support? The proposed solution is a co-creative system that enables key stakeholders—such as organizers, partners, volunteers, and participants—to jointly create value for participants. The project focuses on the different stakeholders and on the carnival’s target group: young people in Aalborg. The thesis is presented in two reports: a presentation that describes the final solution for the organization behind Carnival in Aalborg, and a process report that explains how and why this solution was developed.
