Abstract
Dette speciale præsenterer et designforslag til et nyt bibliotek i Svendborgs havn. Biblioteket placeres på den kunstige ø Frederiksøen, som tidligere husede et skibsværft og i dag er en central del af Svendborgs maritime historie og identitet. Projektet tager udgangspunkt i Vandkunstens masterplan (en overordnet plan) for Frederiksøen som ramme for stedets fremtidige udvikling. Et bibliotek her skal tilføje et nyt lag til øens historie og identitet og igen knytte Svendborg tættere til havnen og den maritime kultur. Placering og udformning skal skabe en særlig oplevelse, hvor byens industrielle atmosfære indgår som en grundlæggende del af den arkitektoniske idé. Biblioteket er tænkt som et vartegn for byen og et naturligt socialt mødested for alle i Svendborg.
This master’s thesis presents a design proposal for a new library in the Port of Svendborg. The library is located on the artificial island Frederiksøen, a former shipyard that remains central to the town’s maritime history and identity.
