Abstract

I løbet af det sidste årti er Internet of Things (IoT) vokset frem, hvor hverdagsenheder som sensorer og TV’er kobles på internettet. Med mange leverandører og softwareplatforme er det en stor udfordring at beskytte enhedernes sikkerhed og forbrugernes privatliv. Dette speciale præsenterer et design for en sikkerhedsgateway til IoT, som kan øge sikkerheden i tilsluttede enheder uden at kræve, at de er designet på en bestemt måde. Designet bygger på en gennemgang af eksisterende IoT-sikkerhedsløsninger og forbrugerprodukter på markedet. Gatewayen analyserer metadata fra enheders netværkstransmissioner (oplysninger om kommunikationen frem for indholdet) for at advare brugere om mulige sikkerhedsbrud og, hvis ønsket, blokere mistænkelige transmissioner.

Over the last decade, the Internet of Things (IoT) has grown, connecting everyday devices such as sensors and TVs to the internet. With many vendors and software platforms, protecting device security and consumer privacy is a major challenge. This thesis presents a design for an IoT security gateway that strengthens the security of connected devices without requiring them to be built in a specific way. The design is informed by a review of current IoT security solutions and consumer products on the market. The gateway analyzes metadata from device network transmissions (information about the communication rather than its content) to warn users about possible security breaches and, if desired, block suspicious transmissions.
