Abstract

This report is the result of the second half of the long master thesis project: “Rural Connections, New Architecture for Farm- ing and Consumer Experience”. The report presents the concrete design proposal for an urban cattle farm placed in the old golf course in Aalborg. The objective of the proposal is to develop new architecture that challenges the traditional way of building agricultural buildings, in order to create spatial experiences for farmer, visitor and cattle. The proposal is strongly embedded in the contextual analysis made of the site, in order to work with the breaking down of scale when moving the large volumes, being cattle farms, from rural to urban areas. With the requirements of the cattle being the main parameter for the final design proposal, an open structure that allows maximum air and light intake into the building is created, revolving around structural principles and investigations.
