Abstract

Re:Form is a master's thesis about a student desk designed to make classrooms more active and flexible for teachers and pupils. Developed in collaboration with four different schools and a school furniture design company, the project responds to a gap between marketing promises and everyday classroom realities. The concept allows teachers to quickly reconfigure the room, including clearing the floor of tables to make space for learning activities. Geometric studies ensure that desks can be grouped efficiently, supporting clusters of up to six or more students. The desks are stackable, and several design iterations ensure they function like ordinary tables when used in a traditional layout. Re:Form proposes a practical way for teachers to shape the learning environment to fit their teaching needs while giving pupils a more varied, engaging school day.
