Abstract
The project is based upon an open competition which took place in the autumn of 2011, formulated by the municipality of Våler. The competition describes the design of a new church for the parish of Våler, as a result of the devastating fire which destroyed the original Church of Våler. To support the design of the church, theoretical investigations about Sacred Spaces, Nordic architecture and Tectonic design have been made. Furthermore, as the technical focus of the project is sustainability and energy, these themes have also been studied. The new Våler church is designed as a low-energy building in a Scandinavian context.
