Abstract
Projektet tager udgangspunkt i ruinen Hammershus på Bornholm, øens stolthed og den største borgruin i Nordeuropa med over 300.000 årlige besøgende. I lyset af en aktuel konkurrence om et nyt besøgscenter undersøger afhandlingen, hvordan livet kan genskabes i Hammershus’ centrum ved at tilføje en ny struktur, der respekterer de eksisterende bygninger og skaber samspil mellem dem. Arbejdet omfatter sted- og kontekststudier af lokation, turisme, topografi og atmosfære; konceptudvikling med fokus på fleksible rum og koblingen mellem landskab og arkitektur; samt tekniske undersøgelser af konstruktionsprincipper, herunder tagstruktur og skyggeforhold, materialevalg, ankomstforløb og detaljering. The project is grounded in the Hammershus ruin on Bornholm, the island’s pride and the largest castle ruin in Northern Europe, attracting over 300,000 visitors annually. In the context of a current competition for a new visitor centre, the thesis explores how to reanimate life at the heart of Hammershus by adding a new structure that respects the existing buildings and fosters interaction between them.
