Abstract

This master’s thesis investigates whether there is a correlation between water vapor permeability measured with the standardized wet/dry cup method (DS/EN ISO 12572) and pure diffusion measured with the Oxygen Diffusion Apparatus 2020 (ODA20) in various building materials. The wet/dry cup method is widely used but challenged by long test durations and unstable boundary conditions, whereas ODA20 uses oxygen as a tracer gas and provides a direct diffusion measure much faster. The thesis outlines the experimental setup, sample preparation, and calibrations, and compares results from the two methods to assess correlation and practical usability. Findings indicate that ODA20 is less precise than the cup method but can process more samples in a short time (about 2 hours versus up to several weeks), offering a quick overview of materials’ diffusion rates. Denne masterafhandling undersøger, om der er en sammenhæng mellem vanddampspermeabilitet målt med den standardiserede våd/tør kop-metode (DS/EN ISO 12572) og ren diffusion målt med Oxygen Diffusion Apparatus 2020 (ODA20) i forskellige byggematerialer. Våd/tør kop-metoden er udbredt, men udfordres af lange måletider og ustabile randbetingelser, mens ODA20 bruger ilt som spor-gas og leverer et direkte mål for diffusion betydeligt hurtigere.
