Abstract
Mobile devices now have fast data connections and more processing power, making them suitable for new types of apps. When devices are location-aware (know their position), they can deliver context-sensitive information to users. This project develops DynaBlu, a framework for building location-aware applications that use web services. The framework uses Bluetooth, a short-range wireless technology, for data communication and to provide location awareness. Web services are used to interact with information services. Communication is authenticated and encrypted to meet security requirements. The goal is to enable the creation of interactive, secure, and location-aware mobile applications with DynaBlu, and to gain essential insight into the technical foundations of such a framework.
