Abstract

This master’s project was carried out with the furniture company Nordic Easy Chair A/S, which sought a fresh view on its existing products and strategy. The work began with a market analysis to identify a less crowded niche the company could target. Based on this research, it proposes a new reclining chair aimed at younger customers and reached through a new sales channel (a different way of selling to customers). The concept allows the chair to switch smoothly between an upright, active sitting position and a relaxed, reclined position. The final design, called the DUCK chair, is presented as part of a new sub-brand within the company’s current product portfolio. The thesis focuses on combining functionality, comfort, and aesthetics in the chair, while also supporting strategic development for an established company.
