Abstract

Dette speciale undersøger, hvad der er vigtigt, når man bygger og validerer en køresimulator. Først ser vi på udfordringerne ved at lave en lavpris-simulator: hvilke udviklingsmuligheder der findes, hvordan systemet kan testes, og hvordan man identificerer de største problemer. Dernæst undersøger vi, hvordan simulatorens fysiske komponenter påvirker validiteten—altså hvor tæt simulatorens adfærd ligger på kørsel i virkeligheden. For at belyse dette udvikler vi testscenarier og vurderer den relative betydning af forskellige komponenter ved hjælp af flere afhængige variabler, dvs. målelige udfald.

This thesis investigates what matters when building and validating a driving simulator. First, it addresses the challenges of creating a low-cost simulator: what development options exist, how to test the system, and how to identify its main problems. It then examines how the simulator’s physical components affect validity—that is, how closely its behavior matches real-world driving.
