Abstract
This project develops a new skylight with integrated fire ventilation in partnership with Domex Skylights A/S. Fire ventilation means the skylight can open to let smoke and heat escape during a fire. The work is based on issues identified by company management, production staff, and installation crews, together with the design team's analyses and observations. The goals are modularity and simplification, with special attention to production, assembly, and installation. A strategic and methodical approach is used to clarify and build strong market selling points in the design proposal. The result is Contego, a vaulted skylight with fire ventilation that offers a modular, clean look and can be used as a fire ventilation skylight or as a fire ventilation light row (a row of linked units).
