Specialet undersøger, hvordan afhøringsmetoder praktiseres i dansk politi, og hvilke juridiske rammer der omgiver dem, med særligt fokus på afhøring af sigtede. På grund af begrænset adgang til danske data og afslag på aktindsigt i konkrete afhøringer baseres undersøgelsen på kvalitative interviews med fire personer med tilknytning til politiet, suppleret af teori om afhøringsmetoder, en juridisk gennemgang (herunder forskellen på mistænkt og sigtet) samt relevant litteratur. Resultaterne peger på, at dansk afhøringspraksis overvejende bygger på kognitive principper, hvor den afhørte får mulighed for en fri forklaring uden afbrydelser. Respondenterne fremhæver den frie forklaring som central for effektiv informationsindsamling og vurderer, at relation og tillid mellem afhører og den afhørte er afgørende for både mængden og troværdigheden af oplysninger. Udenlandsk forskning refereret i specialet angiver, at kognitive afhøringer kan give 20–60% flere korrekte oplysninger end andre teknikker. Afslutningsvis perspektiveres der til, om lyd- og videooptagelse af afhøringer bør gøres lovpligtig for at styrke bevisførelsen og retssikkerheden for både afhører og den afhørte.

This thesis examines how interrogation methods are practiced within the Danish police and the legal framework that governs them, with a primary focus on interrogations of suspects. Because access to concrete interrogation material was denied and Danish sources are limited, the study relies on qualitative interviews with four individuals connected to the police, complemented by theory on interrogation techniques, a legal review (including the distinction between suspect and charged), and relevant literature. Findings indicate that Danish practice predominantly follows cognitive principles that allow the interviewee to provide a free, uninterrupted account. Respondents emphasized the free account as central to effective information gathering and noted that building rapport and trust is vital for both the quantity and credibility of information. Foreign research cited in the thesis suggests cognitive interviewing can yield 20–60% more correct information than other techniques. The thesis concludes with a discussion of whether audio and video recording of interrogations should be mandatory to strengthen evidentiary value and legal safeguards for both interviewer and interviewee.
