Abstract
Dette speciale undersøger metoder til kildeseparation og anslagsdetektion i optagelser af akustiske trommesæt for at analysere, hvor præcist trommeslagere spiller i takt. Kildeseparation betyder at isolere lyden fra de enkelte trommer og bækkener i en samlet optagelse, mens anslagsdetektion finder det præcise tidspunkt, hvor hvert slag begynder. Tilsammen giver disse metoder et grundlag for at måle en trommeslagers timing – altså hvor tæt hvert slag ligger på den tilsigtede puls. Med udgangspunkt i viden om menneskets motorik og sansning opstilles der krav, som guider design og implementering af en prototype af et læringsværktøj, der skal hjælpe trommeslagere med at forbedre deres timingpræcision. Prototypen evalueres både fra et systemperspektiv og et brugerperspektiv, og resultaterne samt mulige forbedringer bliver diskuteret.
This thesis explores methods for source separation and onset detection in recordings of acoustic drum kits to analyze how accurately drummers play in time. Source separation means isolating the sounds of individual drums and cymbals from a mixed recording, while onset detection finds the exact moment each hit begins. Together, these methods provide a basis for measuring a drummer’s timing—how closely each stroke aligns with the intended beat. Drawing on knowledge of human motor control and perception, the thesis defines requirements that guide the design and implementation of a prototype learning tool intended to help drummers improve their timing precision. The prototype is evaluated from both a system perspective and a user perspective, and the results and potential improvements are discussed.
