Abstract
Denne afhandling præsenterer et designforslag til en ny boligbebyggelse, Á Fossum, i Klaksvík på Færøerne. Navnet betyder på toppen af vandfaldet og henviser til projektområdets placering. Afhandlingen tager udgangspunkt i, at gode boligforhold har været en vigtig forudsætning for den seneste vækst på Færøerne. Klaksvík Kommune oplever stor efterspørgsel efter boliger og har derfor igangsat udviklingen af Á Fossum. Projektet undersøger, hvordan byplanlægning kan kombineres med ingeniørmæssige løsninger, der kan håndtere det barske klima og det krævende landskab. Forslaget skitserer en ny bydel, som knytter sig til bymidten og nytænker, hvordan man kan bo og leve sammen i Færøernes dramatiske natur i det 21. århundrede.
This thesis presents a design proposal for a new housing neighborhood, Á Fossum, in Klaksvík, Faroe Islands. The name means on top of the waterfall and refers to the site’s location. The thesis is based on the idea that adequate housing has been a key condition for recent growth in the Faroe Islands. Klaksvík Municipality faces strong demand for homes and has therefore initiated the Á Fossum development.
