Abstract
Dette speciale undersøger mulighederne for at indføre cirkulær økonomi i håndteringen af plastaffald i Nordjylland ved at anvende cleaner production og åben innovation i samarbejde med lokale virksomheder. Det centrale forskningsspørgsmål er, hvordan virksomheder i Nordjylland kan samarbejde om at forbedre genbrug og genanvendelse af plast og samtidig sikre høj plastkvalitet. Som konceptuelt afsæt kombineres cirkulær økonomi (at lukke, sænke og indsnævre plastsløjfer), partnerskaber og FN’s Verdensmål. Empiri er indsamlet gennem litteraturstudier, interviews, observationer og en affaldsscreening, i et design inspireret af techno-antropologi og post-fænomenologi. En case hos MAN Energy Solutions i Frederikshavn førte fra affaldsscreening til et pilotprojekt med Aage Vestergaard Larsen A/S om mulighederne for at genanvende VCI-plast fra det maritime erhverv, der hidtil er blevet sendt til forbrænding. Foreløbige test peger på potentiale for genanvendelse af VCI-plast og danner grundlag for planlagte fuldskalaforsøg. Projektet indikerer desuden potentiale for nye lokale partnerskaber i Nordjylland samt for, at Netværk for Bæredygtig Erhvervsudvikling Norddanmark kan etablere en platform, der fremmer lokale cirkulære løsninger.
This thesis investigates how to introduce circular economy principles into plastic waste management in Northern Jutland by applying cleaner production and open innovation in collaboration with local companies. The core research question asks how companies in Northern Jutland can collaborate to improve the reuse and recycling of plastics while maintaining high material quality. The conceptual framework combines circular economy (closing, slowing and narrowing plastic loops), partnerships and the UN Sustainable Development Goals. Empirical data were gathered through literature studies, interviews, observations and a waste screening, within a research design informed by techno-anthropology and post-phenomenology. A case at MAN Energy Solutions in Frederikshavn progressed from waste screening to a pilot project with Aage Vestergaard Larsen A/S, exploring the recyclability of VCI plastic used in the maritime sector that has previously been sent for incineration. Preliminary tests indicate potential to recycle VCI plastic, with full-scale trials planned. The project also points to opportunities for new local partnerships in Northern Jutland and for the Network for Sustainable Business Development NorthDenmark to create a platform that promotes local circular solutions.
