Abstract
This thesis examines codes of conduct that set out principles for the ethical development of artificial intelligence (AI). It has two aims: (1) to map what these guidelines actually say and identify the ethical principles they promote, and (2) to analyze those principles with a techno-anthropological approach, which combines social theory and digital methods, to clarify their meaning and derive recommendations for an AI ethics framework. To shape these recommendations, I draw on ethical ideas from Aristotle and Michel Foucault, focusing on practices (ethos)—habits and ways of working—that can help designers and developers put ethical principles into practice when building AI systems.
I denne afhandling undersøger jeg adfærdskodekser, der opstiller principper for etisk udvikling af kunstig intelligens (AI). Studiet har to mål: (1) at kortlægge, hvad disse retningslinjer faktisk siger, og identificere de etiske principper, de fremhæver, og (2) at analysere principperne med en techno-antropologisk tilgang, som kombinerer samfundsteori og digitale metoder, for at tydeliggøre deres betydning og udlede anbefalinger til en AI-etisk ramme. For at forme anbefalingerne trækker jeg på etiske idéer fra Aristoteles og Michel Foucault og fokuserer på praksisser (ethos), altså vaner og arbejdsformer, der kan hjælpe designere og udviklere med at omsætte etiske principper til praksis, når de bygger AI-systemer.
