Specialet er et dybdegående casestudie af Aalborg Kommune, som undersøger, hvorfor danske kommuner engagerer sig internationalt. Det beskriver, hvad Aalborg gør uden for Danmarks grænser, og hvorfor disse aktiviteter forfølges. Ved at analysere de rationaler og beslutningsprocesser, der ligger bag at handle i udlandet, skaber studiet en bedre forståelse af, hvordan danske kommuner vælger og begrunder deres internationale engagement.

This thesis is an in-depth case study of Aalborg Municipality that explores why Danish municipalities engage internationally. It describes what Aalborg does beyond Denmark’s borders and why these activities are pursued. By analyzing the rationales and decision processes behind acting abroad, the study builds a clearer understanding of how Danish local governments choose and justify international engagement.
