Abstract
For decades in Canada, Christian faith-based organizations and individual sponsors have helped refugees and their families settle. They offer hospitality, moral support, and practical help, stepping in during difficult times to meet basic needs and guide people through daily life. This thesis explores how these Christian organizations and individuals have handled refugee resettlement within Canada’s private refugee sponsorship program (referred to here as the PRS program), established in 1978. It focuses on what they do to meet immediate needs and to support faster, better integration into local communities, and on the factors that have made their approaches effective.
