Abstract
This master’s thesis presents the design of a Visitor Centre in Hareskoven, northwest of Copenhagen, based on a 2009 brief by EFFEKT Architects. Through studies of the relationship between nature and contemporary culture, and a tectonic study—understanding how materials and structures are assembled—the thesis develops a design process that leads to a building proposal. It discusses how these parameters shape and stimulate the architecture. The work explores what nature means today and how the built and the grown can interact through architectural choices. This is unfolded by examining the interplay between materials, structure, and the immediate context. Framing nature, by creating deliberate contrasts, emerges as a key strategy to achieve this interaction.
