Abstract

As multinational corporations become more globally integrated, virtual communication has become central to collaboration across time and place. This thesis examines how virtual communication influences employees’ psychological well-being, cooperation in global teams, and related organizational outcomes. Drawing on a single-case study at Novo Nordisk A/S, empirical data were collected through interviews and surveys, and the analysis was guided by the PERMA model and the Job Demands-Resources model. Three main findings emerged: low engagement and cooperation in virtual settings, an absence of relationship building in virtual contexts, and a lack of cultural knowledge within global teams. The study contributes to the relatively scarce international business and management literature by illuminating key challenges of virtual communication and underscores the need for strategies that can enhance well-being and collaboration in multinational organizations.
