Abstract
Dette speciale undersøger, hvordan service design—design af tjenester og de systemer, der omgiver dem—kan bruges i den offentlige sektor til at styrke samarbejdet mellem folkeskoler og lokale fællesskaber. Arbejdet er udført i samarbejde med Københavns Kommunes “Innovationshuset” og tager udgangspunkt i en case på en offentlig 10. klasse-skole (Ø10), hvor lokale beboere havde klaget over elevernes adfærd i fælles offentlige rum. Undersøgelsen viste, at direkte møder mellem elever og beboere var vigtige for at nedbryde fordomme og urealistiske forventninger hos begge parter. Brugerundersøgelser med lærere og elever pegede på et behov for flere praksisnære undervisningsforløb, især inden for håndværk og konstruktion. Selvom folkeskoler ifølge folkeskoleloven skal samarbejde med deres lokalsamfund, og platforme som skoletjenesten.dk tilbyder muligheder for undervisningssamarbejder, manglede skolen lokale tilbud—særligt inden for håndværk og konstruktion—der matchede behovene. På den baggrund undersøger specialet, hvordan service design kan bruges til at bygge stærkere forbindelser mellem skoler og lokalt forankrede læringsmiljøer. Designprocessen fokuserede på tre undersøgelsesområder og gennemløb flere iterationer med afgrænsning af udfordringen, dybdegående brugerundersøgelser og udvikling af et nyt servicekoncept. Konceptet foreslår en ny organisering af aktører i et samarbejdssystem samt en platform, der kan understøtte løbende samarbejder. Afslutningsvis reflekterer specialet over service designerens rolle og opgaver i værdiskabelsesprocessen på tværs af de tre undersøgelsesområder.
This thesis explores how service design—designing services and the systems around them—can be applied in the public sector to strengthen collaboration between primary schools and local communities. The work was carried out with the City of Copenhagen’s “Innovationshuset” and centers on a case at a public 10th grade school (Ø10), where local residents had complained about students’ behavior in shared public spaces. The research indicated that creating direct meetings between students and residents was important to reduce prejudice and unrealistic expectations on both sides. User research with teachers and students showed a need for more hands-on, practice-oriented projects in teaching, especially in crafts and construction. Although Danish primary schools are required by law to collaborate with their local communities, and platforms such as skoletjenesten.dk offer opportunities for educational partnerships, the school lacked local options—particularly within crafts and construction—that matched these needs. Against this backdrop, the thesis examines how service design can be used to build stronger links between schools and locally based learning environments. The design process focused on three research areas and moved through several iterations of scoping the challenge, conducting in-depth user research, and developing a new service concept. The concept proposes a new way of organizing the actors in a collaborative system and a platform to support ongoing collaborations. The final section reflects on the service designer’s role and tasks in the value-creation process across the three research areas.
