Abstract

This master’s thesis presents the design of a sustainable urban co-housing community at the southern area of Godsbanen in Aarhus, Denmark. It uses an integrated design approach that combines engineering and architectural perspectives, with sustainability as the main focus. The work follows a clear process from problem definition through analysis, sketching, synthesis, and final presentation. The design is guided by three themes: belonging (creating a sense of home and connection), co-living (shared spaces and resources within a community), and social sustainability (supporting well-being and strong social ties). These themes are reflected in the final proposal.
