Abstract
This thesis examines how women from the Circle of Trust Felicita Campos, part of the women’s political movement Estamos Listas in Colombia, experience their position in a patriarchal society, and how the Circle for Healing methodology can foster healing and action at individual and collective levels. The case is situated within the history of Latin American feminism and Colombia’s long conflict, emphasizing autonomy, the link between private and public spheres, and intersectional approaches. The study adopts feminismo comunitario (communitarian feminism) as its theoretical lens and draws on feminist contributions to critical social work. Methodologically, it is an explanatory, qualitatively driven case study based on participant observation and in-depth interviews, analyzing women’s practical gender needs (PGNs) and strategic gender interests (SGIs). The analysis explores how community, care work, and circle practices can support well-being (“Vivir Bien”), visibility, and participation, and how grassroots initiatives like Estamos Listas can contribute to democratic transformation.
