Abstract

This thesis examines how communities in the Arctic regions of Nunavut and Greenland might strengthen their economic independence. It focuses on business initiatives such as developing ecotourism (tourism designed to be environmentally and culturally responsible) as possible pathways. The study looks at how these activities could generate local jobs and income while protecting nature and respecting local cultures, and discusses opportunities and practical considerations.
