Abstract
Dette speciale foreslår en transformation af Haus der Statistik, et 6.905,6 m² stort bygningskompleks i Berlin-Mitte nær Alexanderplatz. Forslaget bygger på konkurrencemateriale udgivet af Werkstatt Haus der Statistik. Med en helhedsorienteret tilgang udfordrer arbejdet den traditionelle måde at opfatte bygninger på og gentænker komplekset som en 'by i bygningen', hvor Berlins flow fortsætter ind i husets indre og bliver dets rygrad. Specialet forholder sig til, at bygningen blev opført i DDR med utopiske ambitioner, hvor ensartet, standardiseret arkitektur manifesterede en ideologi. This thesis proposes a transformation of Haus der Statistik, a 6,905.6 m² complex in Berlin-Mitte near Alexanderplatz. The proposal is based on competition material published by Werkstatt Haus der Statistik. Using a holistic approach, it challenges conventional ways of seeing buildings and reimagines the complex as a 'city within the building,' where Berlin’s flow continues inside and becomes its backbone. The thesis reflects on the building’s origin in the GDR, when uniform, standardized architecture expressed a utopian ideal. The proposed reinvention of the concrete structure shows how its existing framework can support contemporary complexity, creativity, and Berlin’s new diversity.
