Abstract
This master’s thesis from Aalborg University examines how natural materials in architecture can help reduce stress, focusing on both psychological effects and sustainability. Using an evidence-based design approach (decisions guided by research and measurable findings), the project analyzes how specific design choices can support user wellbeing. The work culminates in a proposal for a stress-relieving workplace in Nørresundby, Denmark. The design includes a recreational area that links the workplace to the surrounding city, and program elements such as workshops, showrooms, meeting rooms, and common spaces. The report presents the design process step by step and shows how iterative testing and scientific evidence informed the final solution.
