Abstract
This thesis examines sustainopreneurship—an emerging form of entrepreneurship aimed at addressing sustainability challenges by creating economic, social, and environmental impact—and its relationship to B Corporations. Given the limited research on the topic, the aim is to clarify the characteristics of sustainopreneurial ventures and their business models by linking them to B Corps, which leverage business to solve social and environmental problems. The study reviews frameworks such as B Lab, the B Impact Assessment, and GIIRS, alongside literature on social business models. Methodologically, it employs qualitative case studies of five Berlin-based B Corps (Little Sun, ABURY, Coffee Circle, soulbottles, and Ecosia), including business model mapping and analysis of B Impact reports, supported by interviews and cross-case comparisons. While detailed findings are not presented in this excerpt, the thesis offers practice-oriented insights into how the triple bottom line (People, Planet, Profit) is operationalized and what this implies for the design and evaluation of sustainopreneurial ventures.
