Abstract
Abstract This bachelor project is a phenomenological study of how citizens between the ages of 18 and 29 experience their cooperation with the social worker at the Jobcenter. It is a study of the influences the strong collaborative relation between the social worker and citizen, has on the progress of the citizens case and how it will motivate them to start education or employment. The study is based on qualitative interviews with a citizen and a social worker who currently has a cooperation which has lasted more than a year. We wanted to study their relationship from their separate views and then compare. We have done the study from an inductive approach, and the analysis is based on the interviews, which will be assisted with a theoretical perspective. The analysis is based on the themes of communication, behavior and the experience of well-being. To analyze communication and behavior the theory of transaction analysis by Berne and Bowlby´s attachment theory has been used. The definition of well-being is based on Eggert Petersen’s studies and analyzed with the critical theory of recognition by Axel Honneth. This study has shown that a strong collaborative relation has a significant influence towards the success of the progress in the citizen’s case. The surprise for us is the amount of work and different influences that can challenge this relation. We are surprised to discover how little well-being is defined in the media and with our politicians, since it is a topic that is often raised. Furthermore, we are surprised to discover how important both attachment and behavior is in creating this strong collaborative cooperation. The outcome of this study shows how relation and cooperation can be used as a tool for social workers in their daily work.
