Abstract
Organisationer opererer i et konkurrencepræget miljø og har brug for dygtige ledere. Dette speciale undersøger, hvordan følelsesmæssig intelligens (EI) påvirker udviklingen af ledelsespraksisser i en interkulturel organisation. Med et kvalitativt design blev der gennemført fire semistrukturerede interviews med ledere hos C. F. Møller Architects. Analysen er forankret i centrale EI-rammer udviklet af Daniel Goleman, John D. Mayer & Peter Salovey samt Reuven Bar-On for at belyse, hvordan EI kan anvendes til at udvikle ledelsespraksis. Fundene indikerer, at opbygning af EI kan hjælpe ledere med bedre at håndtere negative følelser, styrke konflikthåndtering og inspirere teammedlemmer. Specialet peger desuden på behov for videre forskning i sammenhængen mellem transformativt lederskab og følelsesmæssig intelligens med en kvalitativ tilgang.

This thesis examines how emotional intelligence (EI) influences the development of leadership practices in an intercultural organization. Using a qualitative design, four semi-structured interviews were conducted with leaders at C. F. Møller Architects. The analysis draws on leading EI frameworks by Daniel Goleman, John D. Mayer & Peter Salovey, and Reuven Bar-On to illustrate how EI can be applied to leadership development. Findings indicate that cultivating EI can help leaders better manage negative emotions, improve conflict management, and inspire team members. The thesis also highlights avenues for further research on the relationship between transformational leadership and EI using qualitative methods.
