Abstract
This report presents the final result of the Master Thesis, part of the 4th semester in Architecture and Design, in Aalborg university. The project will be developed through the integrated design process and by using the research and the evidence based design. The aim is to accomplish an integrated design for a future food market, throughout an holistic approach that combines a range of iterative processes. Environmental and social sustainability are a major focus of attention within the project. Moreover, diverse topics, related to both the functions of a food market and the nature of the site will be developed. Some of them are: the phenomenon of flooding, that intimidates the city of Copenhagen , the senses related to architecture, the sustainable food production and consumption and the tourism. An innovative proposal, with minimized energy consumption that meets the requirements of a zero energy building and adapts to the climate conditions will hopefully engage with the future development of the Refshaleøen area, to achieve a sustainable community.
