This master’s thesis presents a design proposal for a sustainable, integrated day care centre at Stigsborg Havnefront in Nørresundby, accommodating both nursery and kindergarten for approximately 160 children aged 0–6. It is guided by the question of how architecture, spatial organization, and material choices can support children’s well-being, learning, and development while meeting high environmental standards and serving as a community hub in the new district. Denne masterafhandling præsenterer et designforslag til en bæredygtig, integreret daginstitution ved Stigsborg Havnefront i Nørresundby, der rummer både vuggestue og børnehave til ca. 160 børn (0–6 år). Udgangspunktet er spørgsmålet om, hvordan arkitektur, rumlig organisering og materialer kan understøtte børns trivsel, læring og udvikling, samtidig med at bygningen lever op til høje miljømæssige standarder og bliver et samlingspunkt i det nye bykvarter. Projektets koncept, “Børnelandsby”, skaber et genkendeligt og inspirerende univers med legende, farverige facader, fleksible zoner til små og store fællesskaber samt varierede materialer og farver, der stimulerer sanser, motorik og kognition og øger tryghed. Indeklima er et centralt fokus for at sikre et sundt og behageligt miljø, og læring om bæredygtighed integreres i hverdagen for at præge adfærd tidligt.
