Abstract
This thesis compares three brownfield sites in Spain using a mainly qualitative approach to identify what makes redevelopment successful. Brownfields are previously developed—often industrial—areas that may be contaminated and need cleanup and reuse. The study first reviews the brownfield situation in Spain and clarifies what is meant by "factors of success." It then presents a conceptual and analytical framework, describes the three case studies at different stages of redevelopment, and compares them to find common patterns and differences. Finally, it discusses how these findings can shape future perspectives on brownfield redevelopment in Spain.
