Abstract
Dette speciale undersøger byudviklingen af Søtorvet i Silkeborg, hvor et nedslidt parkeringsareal skal forvandles til en aktiv del af den indre by. I processen indgår også planer om et nyt museum, som ligger uden for selve projektområdet. Projektets fokus er at bruge social bæredygtighed og mobilitetsdesign som redskaber i planlægning og udvikling. Social bæredygtighed forstås her som byrum og funktioner, der styrker fællesskab, tryghed og inklusion, mens mobilitetsdesign handler om tilgængelige, sammenhængende løsninger for bevægelse i byen. Specialet rummer en teoretisk diskussion af de to temaer og undersøger, hvordan de påvirker hinanden og kan kombineres som designværktøjer. På den baggrund præsenteres Søtorvet-kvarteret som en aktiv “by-ø” med blandede funktioner og stærke forbindelser til den omkringliggende by.
This thesis examines the urban redevelopment of Søtorvet in Silkeborg, transforming a worn parking area into an active part of the inner city. The wider context also includes plans for a new museum located outside the project area. The project focuses on using social sustainability and mobility design as tools for planning and development. Here, social sustainability refers to public spaces and functions that support community, safety, and inclusion, while mobility design concerns accessible and connected ways of moving around the city.
