Abstract

The aim of the following report was the creation of a understanding of the traffic congestion situation as a general topic and in the context of Panama City, and then create recommendations based on those for both public and private sectors. To understand this a application of the Task Technology Fit framework was applied, together with research regarding what causes traffic congestion, and what technologies are currently to enable the reduction of traffic congestion. Thus a discussion from both public and private sectors perspectives was created, with the focus on understanding and creating a grounding for a analysis in terms of Task, Technology and Fitness. The conclusion regarding the subject matter is that Technology can and should help the reduction of traffic congestion by enabling solutions to improve the quality and attractiveness of public transport solutions, essentially enabling less cars to exist at one time on the road.
