Abstract
This thesis addresses the need for tailored tools to improve the user experience of secondhand e‑commerce, a domain that differs from generic e‑commerce due to unique items, incomplete product information, and atypical buyer–seller roles and pricing. The aim was to develop heuristics for evaluating and designing secondhand e‑commerce experiences. The project followed the heuristic development methodology by Quiñones et al. (2018), combined with human‑centered methods and a narrative literature review to capture domain‑specific requirements. The resulting heuristics were validated through heuristic evaluation. The outcome is a set of 13 secondhand‑specific heuristics, each with an accompanying checklist, which proved effective in uncovering usability issues on secondhand e‑commerce platforms. The work provides a practical foundation for evaluation and design that can support better user experiences and potentially encourage more sustainable online consumption.
Denne afhandling adresserer behovet for målrettede værktøjer til at forbedre brugeroplevelsen i secondhand e‑handel, et område der adskiller sig fra generisk e‑handel ved bl.a. unikke varer, mangelfuld produktinformation samt anderledes roller og prissætning. Formålet var at udvikle heuristikker, der kan bruges til at evaluere og designe secondhand e‑handelsløsninger. Projektet fulgte en heuristikudviklingsmetodik fra Quiñones m.fl. (2018) kombineret med brugercentrerede metoder og et narrativt litteraturreview for at kortlægge domænespecifikke krav. Heuristikkerne blev efterfølgende valideret gennem heuristisk evaluering. Resultatet er 13 secondhand‑specifikke heuristikker, hver ledsaget af en tjekliste, som viste sig effektive til at identificere brugbarhedsproblemer på secondhand e‑handelsplatforme. Arbejdet giver dermed et praktisk grundlag for både evaluering og design, der kan understøtte bedre brugeroplevelser og potentielt fremme mere bæredygtigt onlineforbrug.
