Abstract

This thesis presents an alternative approach to how construction projects are delivered. It reviews the evolution of partnering (a structured collaboration among project participants) and highlights the key elements that drive its success. The thesis includes a case study demonstrating successful use of partnering in practice. Building on theory and the case, it proposes a second-generation partnering model tailored to the construction industry. It outlines a practical, step-by-step sequence of activities and methods for implementing the model, and discusses the factors that shape cooperation. By combining theory with case insights, the thesis offers a coherent response to common challenges in the building industry.
