Abstract
This master’s thesis proposes transforming an existing cement factory on the Danish island of Samsø into the Samsø Culinary Badehotel, a seaside hotel that builds on the site’s potential. The report documents the research and design process behind the proposal, with attention to cultural heritage, social and environmental sustainability, and regenerative architecture (design that helps restore natural systems). The project places special emphasis on materiality and indoor environmental quality, using simulations and software to understand the proposal’s effects on the environment and on user well-being. The design includes dining spaces, a spa, lounge areas, and 18 private rooms, aiming to become a new destination for both locals and visitors.
Dette kandidatspeciale foreslår at omdanne en eksisterende cementfabrik på øen Samsø i Danmark til Samsø Culinary Badehotel. Målet er at udnytte stedets potentiale og forvandle industribygningen til en turistattraktion med respekt for lokal kulturarv. Rapporten samler den forskning og den designproces, som forslaget bygger på, med fokus på kulturarv, social og miljømæssig bæredygtighed samt regenerativ arkitektur (design, der kan genskabe eller styrke naturlige systemer). Projektet lægger særlig vægt på materialitet og det indendørs miljø og anvender simuleringer og software til at forstå, hvordan forslaget påvirker både omgivelserne og brugernes trivsel.
