Abstract
This thesis examines Sales & Operations Planning (S&OP) as a business planning concept and uses insights from a thorough literature review to assess current S&OP practices at the ceramic tile manufacturer Daltile, headquartered in Mexico. The goal is to define what constitutes optimal S&OP, compare it with Daltile’s current execution, and identify key gaps and next steps. Based on the literature, an S&OP maturity model was developed to position Daltile on a maturity scale and to map improvement needs. The assessment places Daltile at stage 2 of 5 and identifies 32 gaps relative to optimal practice. To address these, 13 initiatives are proposed, several of which target multiple gaps and can be applied across stages. These initiatives are consolidated into a three-step implementation plan, providing a recommended roadmap to advance maturity toward stages 3, 4, and 5.
