Abstract
Udgangspunktet er, at lystbådehavne først og fremmest har understøttet sejlads. I dag er 84 % af danske sejlere over 50 år, hvilket skaber et generationsgab. Samtidig falder antallet af overnatninger i danske marinaer, og mange bådpladser står tomme, hvilket gør det svært at udnytte kapaciteten fuldt ud. Da der findes begrænset forskning om marinaer, undersøger specialet marinaen og dens relation til byen. Det ser på, hvordan marinaen bruges, dens fysiske omgivelser og dens potentialer som rekreativt byrum. Metoden kombinerer eksisterende teori med empiriske studier: analyser af best practice-marinaer og brugerundersøgelser. På den baggrund udvikles et sæt designparametre, som kan tilpasse og forbedre marinaen og forankre den som et attraktivt fritidssted i byen. Parametrene samles i et designkompas, der angiver en helhedsorienteret og bæredygtig retning for marinaers udvikling. Kompasset afprøves på Middelfart Marina og munder ud i en stedsspecifik, konceptuel designstrategi, der giver principper og inspiration til den videre udvikling.
Marinas have traditionally supported boating. Today, 84% of Danish sailors are over 50, creating a generation gap. At the same time, overnight stays in Danish marinas are declining, leaving empty berths and unused capacity. Because there is little academic work on marinas, this thesis examines the marina and its relationship to the city. It looks at how the marina is used, its physical setting, and its potential as a recreational public place. The method combines existing theory with empirical work: case analyses of best-practice marinas and user research. Based on this, the thesis develops a set of design parameters to adapt and improve marinas and anchor them as attractive urban leisure spaces. These parameters are brought together in a design compass that sets a holistic and sustainable direction for marina development. The compass is tested at Middelfart Marina and results in a site-specific, conceptual design strategy that offers principles and inspiration for future development.
