Abstract

Turisme skaber store mængder affald, fra engangsemballage til madrester. Dette speciale undersøger, hvordan cirkulær økonomi—en tilgang der forebygger spild ved at genbruge, reparere og genanvende materialer—kan skabe værdi for turismevirksomheder, besøgende og lokale beboere ved at reducere affaldet. Først giver en litteraturgennemgang et overblik over cirkulær økonomis oprindelse og nuværende udbredelse i turisme. Tourism generates large amounts of waste, from single-use packaging to leftover food. This thesis examines how the circular economy—an approach that designs out waste by reusing, repairing and recycling materials—can create value for tourism companies, visitors and local residents by reducing that waste. First, a literature review outlines where the circular economy idea comes from and how it is currently used in tourism. Then, interviews and on-site observations in Copenhagen, Denmark, are used to examine current waste management practices in tourism and explore how circular strategies could improve them. The study identifies key obstacles that limit wider uptake of circular economy practices in tourism. It also points to practical solutions in design, marketing and business operations that could help overcome these barriers and reduce pollution from tourism.
