Abstract

This thesis is a systematic review that examines how Building Information Modeling (BIM) can enhance the use of the Last Planner System (LPS) in Lean Construction. The aim is to understand how BIM can support planning and collaboration so that work becomes more coordinated and predictable. The review is organized around three sub-questions: (1) how BIM functionalities interact with Lean principles and contribute to Lean Construction, (2) which BIM functionalities have the greatest impact on the benefits of LPS, why information communication is critical in construction, and how it can be improved, and (3) how to develop a practical process that integrates BIM and LPS for implementation or as a step within a CDP in system development. Overall, the thesis consolidates and assesses existing knowledge to provide a clear overview of where BIM can add the most value to LPS and how this integration can be designed in practice.
