Abstract

This project examines how players perceive probabilities in video games that rely on chance (games with random outcomes). A review of prior studies identified two distinct ways players may misinterpret probabilities in such games. These misinterpretations were tested in a video game built around chance-based actions. Findings were mixed and inconclusive, but some patterns aligned with parts of the existing literature. The project also produced a mind map outlining directions for future work.
