Abstract

Studiets resultater samles i konklusionen.

This study examines pre-planning in construction—the work done before building starts to define goals, scope, budget, schedule, roles, risks, and coordination. It compares two common project delivery methods, Design–Bid–Build (DBB) and Design–Build (DB), to show how early planning differs between them. The research combines a review of scientific articles and books with the author's professional experience. A theoretical section maps who typically takes part in pre-planning and how the process unfolds. Based on this foundation, a stakeholder analysis identifies which participants have the most influence and decision power. The main analysis draws on qualitative interviews with owners, contractors, advisors/consultants, and designers. It summarizes their perspectives, compares practices in DBB and DB, and examines stakeholder roles, influence, and collaboration in the early phase. The study’s findings are brought together in the conclusion.
