Abstract

“Plastic is fantastic” is the slogan of a Danish TV campaign encouraging people to recycle plastic. Yet plastic packaging accounts for about 40% of all plastic ever produced. In response, many initiatives are rethinking packaging to extend its life and reduce single-use. This study looks at efforts that change how we handle plastic packaging and explore ways to buy and use goods without relying on it. However, because plastic is so useful, new ideas often run into barriers created by existing systems and routines. These legacy systems can slow or block change. To make a real difference, innovation must either replace them or build enough consumer demand to force them to adapt. Danish solutions can provide momentum, but they must also address their own limitations. Packaging-free and reuse schemes are only effective if they are easy for consumers to access and use.

Derfor arbejder mange initiativer på at gentænke emballage, så den holder længere, og på at mindske brugen af engangsemballage. Dette studie ser på tiltag, der ændrer vores omgang med plastemballage, og på måder at købe og bruge varer uden at være afhængige af plast.
